Match day traffic on 29 March caused hold-ups at the Thomas a Becket junction in St James, and inconsiderate parking caused local residents the usual problems. Although the traffic wasn’t as catastrophic as on 1 March, there were times when the traffic trying to leave Northampton via St Peter’s Way clashed with the match day traffic heading towards Northampton town centre from St James, and the queues backed up to the Thomas a Becket junction and beyond. These traffic problems will not go away until there is a longer-term solution for St James. With Coventry matches as well as Cobblers matches, frequent clashes between rugby and football are almost inevitable. I will continue to monitor this.
