Northamptonshire County Councillor for Sixfields - a Lib Dem campaigner working all year round, not just at election time Learn more

I’VE TALKED to residents round the lift tower. I have the following comments to make to the Borough Council about the planning application to make the temporary planning permission for abseiling from the lift tower permanent:
1 Residents are very keen that that the number of abseiling events being permitted is NOT increased significantly in future.
2 Some of the people who come along to support their friends and relatives drive the wrong way round the roundabout where the tower is located. They don’t appear to follow the normal rules of the road. It may be because they’re distracted looking for their friends and relatives, or simply that the road signs aren’t clear enough.
3 Marshals have been rude to local residents using visitor parking spaces around the square. Residents or their friends and relatives are entitled to use the visitor spaces if their own parking space is already occupied. It is not appropriate for the marshals to tell residents where they can or can’t park.
These observations must be taken into account when this application is considered by the Borough Council. I will be speaking on their behalf.
