THE PROPOSALS TO OPEN A NEW FREE SCHOOL at the current Police HQ in Wootton Hall in Mereway has been criticised by LibDem Councillors. Lib Dem county council leader Brendan Glynane has been contacted by the head of a school near the Wootton Hall site concerned about poaching pupils. STOP PRESS Seven Headteachers from schools in the Mereway and surrounding area have condemned the plans and the tactics employed by the free school supporters: “….”We have concerns about the reported practice witnessed outside our school gates where representatives of the Wootton Free School have been taking down contact details of our parents and using these as the numbers required for their proposals…”
