On 14 April a group made up of some of the Management Committee and some of the regular users of Camp Hill Community Centre met with a representative from Northampton Borough council to discuss an offer from the borough council. The offer was being made was for the users to take over the complete running of the Community Centre.
They listened to an excellent presentation from the manager of Hardingstone village hall – a hall that was taken over by the community from the county council 18 years ago.
After a long question and answer session, the meeting agreed that they did want to put a proposal forward.
Individuals will start to work on a business plan and financial forecast, and will meet again on Thursday 12 May to review progress on both and pool ideas.
This is really good news for people who use the Camp Hill Community Centre. The fact that there are several people who are prepared to give their time to develop this plan and then form a working committee, means that the local community will get the best possible service from this community centre run by the community for the community.
