Parking problems on Hunsbury Hill Road

by Jill Hope on 23 April, 2011

SOME RESIDENTS  in St Benedicts Mount alongside the church have complained about visitors to the church parking inconsiderately.

Interestingly it appears that the problem generally arises, not so much from churchgoers, but from clubs that make use of the church.

Other residents from further afield are now complaining that when cars are parked on Hunsbury Hill Road, all the way from St Benedicts Mount to Sentinel Road, and even past that, the sightline for car overtaking the parked cars round the curve of the road is poor.

People are asking why users of the church don’t use the Hunsbury Hill Park car park opposite. The problem is that this car park has a reputation for damage to and theft from cars parked there.

These crimes would be less likely if the surrounding greenery were cut back so that local residents and passers-by had a clear view of the car park.

What do you think? Would you like to see changes to Hunsbury Hill Park car park, so that users of the church facilities felt more confident using it, or do you think it is more important to keep the car park as it is now, surrounded by bushes?
